Introducing the Deep, Rich and Enticing Mahogany

Calgary's newest lake community, Mahogany, is located in Calgary's vibrant southeast corner. It's a locale that is ripe with fresh new homes surrounding a 63-acre freshwater lake. As a new community, Mahogany is thriving with homeowners that expect more from their lifestyle and their home. As far as urban living goes, this is one of the best places in Calgary to live.Named after the wood, the Mahogany community lives up to the reputation behind its namesake. Mahogany is a deep rich wood that is exclusive, durable and beautiful. It has a unique pink coloring that slowly develops into a deeper red as the wood ages. As with the wood, the Mahogany community will also develop into a richer culture of its own as it matures.
Mahogany was approved as a new suburban neighborhood in 2007 by City Council. It will take 15 years for it to be completely built out and will be able to accommodate about 25,000 Calgarians. There will be five neighborhoods and each will be within a reasonable walking distance of a commercial complex at the community's main entrance. Along with the lake there is also a 60-acre wetlands area that is perfect for families that want to stay connected to nature and have their children brought up in this type of environment.
Mahogany Real Estate
There is a large variety of housing available in this new community including condos, custom-built homes, single-family dwellings, estate homes, town houses and villas. The homes are constructed around the largest freshwater lake in Calgary, which has three parts and two bridges crossing it. Every home is constructed with attention to character, architectural quality and fine detail.
Recreation
As a focal point of the area, the lake draws members of the community together to enjoy kayaking, sunbathing, canoeing, beach volleyball, swimming and many other activities. During the colder months residents can enjoy the outdoor rink nearby for hockey or recreational skating.
Local residents can enjoy the central clubhouse year round that overlooks this freshwater lake. There is also a homeowners association that organizes events like a boating and skating program and movies at the park, just to name a few.
Just as mahogany wood matures into a deeper richer color over time while maintaining its solid durability, the families of the Mahogany community will turn into generations, and neighbors will become friends. This is a rich deep community that is destined to become one of Calgary's strongest and finest inner cultures in the near future.
