CP rail is relocating to Ogden and according to Bob Jablonski, Calgary Real Estate Board president, this is a good move. The relocation will free up some much-needed commercial space in the downtown core while staying in the Calgary region.

This opens the door for other companies to migrate into the city core and the timing couldn't be better. Office space has definitely been sparse downtown for quite a while.

The headquarters for CP were located on 9th Avenue SW in the huge glass building that turns the heads of passersby. Now it's time for other companies to move in and experience the Calgary core and all it has to offer.

CP owns the Ogden rail yard and will be moving most of the headquarters here according to union officials. This is going

If you have young children and are looking for Calgary homes that have a pool, make sure that you have considered all angles first. While it is nice to have a family pool and you'll be able to teach your children to be comfortable in the water at a young age, there are a lot of responsibilities that you'll have to take on.

Safety and security will need to be at an all-time high if you have a pool. There should be alarms set at all doors and they need to be tested regularly. Any time anyone enters or leaves the home this alarm will go off unless it has been disarmed first. Usually there is a button that is very high up that needs to be pressed before the adult leaves the home to avoid having the alarm sound.

These types of precautions need to be

You've probably made quite an investment in your asphalt driveway and want to get as many years out of it as you can. By putting a small time investment into your driveway you'll be able to extend the life of it while adding to the curb appeal of your home. Before the freezing temperatures take over your driveway, here's what you need to do.

Do an inspection

Do a visual inspection of your driveway very carefully and look for any potholes, cracks or oil stains. Christmas day! This is the one day out of the 365 days in a year that is the best to put in your offer for a new Calgary home. If you're looking for that exclusive buyer's edge that will help the land the home of your dreams, do it at Christmas. There won't be too many other people putting in an offer for any type of property on this day.

Of course, you'll have to find a real estate agent that will go along with your reasoning. Most agents have a family of their own and wouldn't consider taking time off on Christmas to land a deal. There are others though that would work on your behalf and help you secure a Christmas home. You'd want to talk to the real estate agent beforehand to find out if this could be a possibility.

The second best day is...

They may also be analyzing such things like interest rates and putting off making a decision until the timing is perfect.

One thing that you can bet on is that inflation is always going to rise no matter what is happening with the real estate market here in Calgary. This means that the value of each and every dollar that you have in your pocket right now it's only going to go down. There's no escaping that. It's a fact of life.

Most people at some time or another in their lives decide to take on a home renovation project. If it's your first time doing some extensive work on your home you may not know exactly what to expect. You work out a budget, hire a contractor and then what happens? Well in most cases, you’ll need to expect some delays and will have to spend more money than what you budgeted to get a final product that you absolutely love.

Prepare for extra expenses

When you ask for an estimate from a company this is exactly what you can expect - an estimate. It's not a final binding contract between you and the contractor for final expenses. It's not rare to see a project go over the estimated price - in fact you can go so far as to say that it is a common practice.
