Have a Healthy and Safe New Year's Eve

It's New Year's Eve and chances are good that you are either already celebrating or planning on heading out soon. It's a great night to celebrate the past year and to look forward to the future ahead. In order to make sure that you enjoy a safe evening, here are just a few common sense tips that you should remember to follow.

Pace your drinking

If you're planning on consuming some alcoholic drinks this evening try to pace yourself so that you can still enjoy the party. Drinking too much too fast will simply leave you on the floor. As well, you'll be a lot better off if you can alternate drinks containing alcohol with non-alcoholic beverages such as juice or water. This will help to keep you hydrated.

Your travel plans

Of course, it goes without saying that you should not drink and drive and you should have travel plans in place to help you get home after the party. If you plan to be out later than Calgary Transit is running tonight, you'll need to have a designated driver available or pre-book a taxi for a certain time. The taxi companies will definitely be busy tonight so you shouldn't count 100% on getting one if you haven't pre-booked a cab ahead of time.

In a crowd

If you're going to be amongst a crowd of people tonight, stay alert and keep an eye out for any potential problems. If you see anyone that is intoxicated and out of control, keep a distance away from this person but make sure that he is able to get home safely.

Make it a safe and unforgettable night tonight. We only have one chance to say goodbye to 2013 so it might as well be done with fun, excitement and safety in mind!
