How to Market Your Home When It Looks like All the Others

If you live in a townhouse or a house on a street where a lot of the houses look the same, you may be thinking that you need to make your house look different from the others. You may want it to stand out and be noticed. The problem is that making it stand out too much can actually turn it into an eyesore.

Let's say that all of these homes have a white garage and you decide to paint yours blue. That will certainly differentiate your home from all of the other townhouses but it usually won't look very good at all. This is too overwhelming a change and many people aren’t going to appreciate the look at all.

A more subtle change that will make heads turn is doing something with your landscaping. You can create a beautiful flower bed, add some wonderful plants and make your home stand out from the others that way. You can go take a look around at some other similar complexes to see what landscaping techniques are being used to make one home look a lot better than the others.

When you're driving, you'll see the difference that a beautifully landscaped front yard can make. A neat and trimmed set of bushes that are strategically placed in the right areas are sometimes all that's needed to transform your home into something that shines brightly when compared to all of the others.

Another thing that you need to remember is that the home viewers aren't going to be looking at all of the other homes in the area. Unless you have two or three other homes that are for sale on your street that look alike, you really don't have to worry about making your home appear different. You may be used to seeing your neighbours' homes and know that they all have the same layout but the person that's coming for the viewing won't know.

Make sure that your house is clean and tidy and if you want to make it look different concentrate on adding some nice landscaping features. Don't do anything too drastic since it can often do more harm than good.
