The name “Vivace” is Italian in origin and is a musical term which means lively. The name captured the imagination of the development team as it seems to describe the slice-of-life experience of living in this area of South West Calgary.
This innovative complex at 85 St SW and 8A Ave SW is a joint venture of Bri-Mor Developments and Streetside Developments. Both developers, one commercial and one residential, have worked together to build a work/play/live experience. Vivace is billed as affordable family housing with high end finishes and an opportunity for condo buyers to find a home in West Springs at a lower price point.
Floor plans and interior/exterior renderings depict the four-storey buildings to be completed in phases next door to the West 85th megaplex with retail shops, restaurants, office space and medical clinics. While West 85th is on the west side, the Vivace complex will back onto municipal green space which will diffuse the location density. The location is ideal for buyers who want to get downtown quickly but either don’t want to live in the core or pay higher prices for downtown condos.
The fourth floor suites of the Vivace development will be higher than the adjacent three-storey commercial complex. Downtown Calgary is 15 to 20 minutes east down Bow Trail. Vivace will offer more square footage with amenities within walking distance, like Mercato and the Vin Room, two popular high end restaurants on 85 St SW. The location also makes weekend escapes to the mountains very quick with Old Banff Coach Road nearby.
West 85th offers daycare facilities and a nearby preschool. There are established schools in Westgate for public and separate school students, with Webber Academy nearby and the Calgary French School just next door in Cougar Ridge.
Just blocks to the north is Winsport Canada Olympic Park, accessible from the south end through Cougar Ridge. To the south at 17 Ave and 69 St SW is the Westside Rec Centre and the 69 St LRT station.
