Wallpaper has gotten a bad reputation in the past. When people used wall paper it just screamed, “Grandma’s house!” Today’s wallpapers do not resemble what you may remember from your past. Fun geometrics, updated colors, and whimsy designs are bringing wallpaper back into the modern world.

How to choose Wallpaper?

The goal of choosing wall paper is to narrow your choices down to just a few that really speak to you. Look at the colors and the patterns and determine how they make you feel. Never pick a pattern because you “think” that’s what the room is supposed to look like. Use your instincts and your senses and only choose the patterns that make you feel whatever mood you want the room to exude.

If it is your bedroom then you probably want to stick with soothing, quieting patterns that make you feel comfortable and relaxed. If it is an entertaining space like your living room or your kitchen, then you might want it to feel more energized and lively.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

Keep in mind the size of the room also. Oversized patterns can easily overwhelm, but kept more to one wall as a focal wall they can add dramatic flair. Small, busy patterns can help decorate a wall that is broken up with a lot of windows and doors. Dark colors can cramp up a small room, while light colors open it up. However, rules are meant to be broken.

Look at pictures on designing websites to help give you inspiration. One thing to keep in mind is how often you will want to redecorate. If it’s often, then make sure you use removable wallpaper. If you fear the glue, the removable type is also just peel and stick.

Wallpaper is an easy and fun way to really make a home yours and inject your personality into a room.
