Zoo Year’s Eve at the Calgary Zoo

Get dressed warm and head out for a spectacular New Year's Eve at the Calgary Zoo. The fire pits will be burning from 6:00 p.m. up to 9:00 p.m. with Zoolight activities happening at the same time. The fireworks begin at 8:30 p.m. with a dazzling display of lights against the winter sky.

Parking is free for this event and is included with the cost of admission. Children under 2 years old are admitted free, children aged 3 to 15 will only pay nine dollars while adults 16 years of age or older will pay the low admission price of only $12.

If you're planning on taking in the festivities at the Calgary Zoo to ring in the New Year you will have to purchase your tickets beforehand. Tickets will not be sold on the same day of the event or at the gate.

During the festivities all of the animal buildings will remain closed to protect the well-being and health of the animals. Food outlets will serve cookies and hot chocolate and the Kitamba Café will serve hot food up until 8:00 p.m. followed by drinks and snacks until 9:00 p.m. If you get the chance order some poutine from the Kitamba Café. It's said to be the best in Calgary!

During the Christmas season the whole zoo is decorated with Christmas lights and attracts many photographers to the area. It's a great family destination for New Year's Eve and afterwards parents will still have enough time to head out to enjoy what the rest of the evening has to offer.
